CoverLetterGen is a small, single-purpose site: help people write a cover letter that is specific, honest and short. It is run by one person, not a content team.

Why it exists

Most cover letter advice is either a template shop or a listicle of adjectives. Meanwhile the tools that generate letters for you tend to invent achievements, because a language model asked to write about you will fill any gap with something plausible. That is a real problem: a letter containing a number you can't back up is worse than no letter, and it surfaces in the interview.

So this site does two things. It gives you a generator that is instructed to work only from facts you supply, and it gives you enough craft to fix what the generator produces. The second part is the more valuable one.

How we work

• No invented data. We don't publish statistics without a source, and we don't publish test results we haven't run.
• No guarantees. A cover letter is a filter, not a lever. Any site promising interviews is selling something.
• Dates on everything. Advice about hiring goes stale. Pages here carry a last-updated date, and we revise rather than pile up new pages.
• Disclosed links. Some outbound links may be affiliate links. They are marked, and they never decide what we recommend.

What this site is not

It is not a résumé builder, an auto-apply service, or a career coaching business. It doesn't want your email address and it doesn't have an account system. If a future version needs one, this page will say so first.
